There are very many people who have become successful because of their business ventures. When black people make these lists of successful entrepreneurs, it causes a ruffle because it is believed that they have to work twice as hard as other people in order to get to where they are. However, there are many black people who have got an education and fought against all odds to make their names known in the business world.
Some of the most common names in black entrepreneurs include Oprah Winfrey, George Foreman, Russell Simmons, Shawn Carter, Sean Combs, Iman Abdulmajid, Tyler Perry and Tyra Banks among others. All these black people have moving stories that have shaped the businesses that they now run. Oprah Winfrey easily makes this list as the most successful African American in the USA. She is one of the very hand-made billionaires who has come from a poor background and has managed to become as successful as she is. Another example is Iman of Iman cosmetics who, after being born in Somali, did not think she had a future in any form of business in life. However, she struggled until she was discovered as a model and now runs an entire global enterprise. Tyra Banks also struggled before she was discovered as a super model and now runs an enterprise by the name Bankable Productions with TV shows and modeling careers.
Other famous black entrepreneurs include sports figures such as George Foreman, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. George Foreman now runs a business and has many endorsements under his name. Magic Johnson, a former professional basketball player, runs his own company that spreads across 20 states in America. He is the President and CEO and now makes more money than many Americans regardless of race. Another famous black entrepreneur is Christopher Gardner, whose story was translated into a movie titled In Pursuit of Happyness where his character was portrayed by Will Smith. Another famous entrepreneur in the entertainment industry is Tyler Perry who started off as a poor man who slept in his car to becoming the most successful black man in film and theater.
There are also many black entrepreneurs who have made their name in the music industry. They include Sean Combs, Shawn Carter, better known as Jay Z and Jermaine Dupri among others. Sean Combs or P Diddy has left his mark both in the music industry and the fashion industry. He runs the Sean John clothing line and also serves as the CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment. Jay Z is the CEO of Def Jam Productions up from being a street hustler. Another famous entrepreneur is Russell Simmons who started from hustling, to promoting parties and managing artists to becoming the mogul that he is today. Russell Simmons has influence in almost all industries in the United States ranging from jewelry to music and fashion. Jermaine Dupri has also made a mark in the industry by venturing into music, fashion and television. He is known to have produced some of the best music artists of all time.
