Characteristics of an Entrepreneur
Posted on December 26, 2010 - Filed Under Miscellaneous
In order for a business to be termed as successful, it has to have a practical business idea, adequate resources and a competent entrepreneur. Getting a reliable and able manager for a business sometimes proves to be a very tricky part of setting up a business. An entrepreneur manages, organizes and assumes all the risks of a business even if they are just employees. They should be able to foresee the outcome of a business plan well before implementation. A successful entrepreneur thrives on change, is innovative and creative. He or she does not dwell on factors that will not make business sense.
Other common characteristics of a successful entrepreneur are good health, sense of authority and self confidence. A manager should be able and willing to work long hours to meet targets. They should quickly recover if they get sick to ensure that the business is not affected by their absence. Successful managers should also have a need to direct and show their authority in a business environment to ensure goals are met. This sense of authority gives them a responsibility to achieve their targets. It does not necessarily mean having power, rather having control over what one is doing. This can be made easier if the manager has self confidence. Research shows that managers who believe in what they are doing are more likely to achieve what they want in business.
Another characteristic of an entrepreneur is a sense of urgency in almost everything they do. This means that they are always energetic to do something and ensures that they are busy at all times. They get impatient when they are not busy doing something productive. A good entrepreneur should also know all the ramifications associated with a business idea before implementing it. A good manager also keeps track of what is going on to ensure that employees are right on target as opposed to leaving things to the very end. They are honest and expect their employees to be honest as well. They are also able to conceptualize order in situations where there is disorder or chaos. This conceptual ability makes it possible for them to come up with solutions for identified problems.
Good managers are also known to care more about their business status as opposed to their social status. They flourish in their business achievements more than their social standing. A good entrepreneur also approaches everything objectively by detaching him/herself from the situation and doing what is best for the business. They focus more on people’s accomplishments than their feelings towards the business or operations. A good manager should also be able to cope with stress from their personal lives well enough not to interfere with the running of a business. Stress to them is a challenge that should be overcome as opposed to it being a discouragement tool. In addition, they love new challenges that give them a sense of growth everyday. They however analyze challenges to minimize the chances of risks. Finally, a successful entrepreneur is able to translate all their business ideas into number and show their financial standing. They always know what they owe other people and what is owed to them.
Entrepreneur Management Skills Training
Posted on October 26, 2010 - Filed Under Miscellaneous
Entrepreneur management involves running a company like the business that it is. Many businesses find that using this style of management allows the company some flexibility to try out new strategies and break from tradition and therefore facilitate growth of the business. When deciding on using this management style, managers and business owners should be prepared to adapt to the various and rapid changes that affect the market conditions on a daily basis. They should also be prepared to facilitate the implementation of ideas that might grow the business even if it means changing the way things are normally done. However, ideas being implemented should be thought out carefully to ensure the success of the business.
Some characteristics of managers who opt for this style of management is aggressiveness, creativity, honest, committed, passionate about the business and one who comes up with new ideas. In addition, they should also have a survival attitude to ensure that they can handle any rapid changes in market conditions. These are the managers who make it their business to ensure that a company meets its goals and targets and turns its dreams into reality. Many organizations have now adopted the entrepreneur management style in an effort to create a better working condition for its employees and allow them to be creative and enthusiastic about their jobs.
Having this type of management skill also motivates employees because they can see that their ideas are being appreciated and are therefore more willing to get creative and better the company. In such an organization, employees are more responsive to company policies and they are also more likely to comply with a company’s leadership plan. Research shows that some of the most successful business people around were given a chance to grow in their capacities as employees.
In order to implement an entrepreneurial management style, some managers require extra training while others are simply naturally good at it. There are two main types of managers in any given organization. One is the type that believes employees will only work well under pressure or when they are scared or afraid of the manager. Such managers may sometimes set irrationally high goals and targets that may appear unachievable.
Although this management style sometimes works, it creates a sense of fear in the organization and employees are not willing to do anything extra for the betterment of the organization. The other type of manager is the type that creates a friendship with the employees although still setting a target for them. This type of manager will personally get involved in ensuring that his or her team succeeds without causing anxiety and fear in the workplace.
In entrepreneurial management, managers should strike a balance between these two types of management styles and ensure that the company meets its goals and also the employees are motivated and relaxed in such a way that they want the company to develop along with them. Managers know they type of style to use based on the type of work there is and the kind of relationship that has already been formed. All the same, they should strive to ensure that the work environment is made conducive for all.
What Role Do Social Media Play in an SEO Strategy
Posted on October 22, 2010 - Filed Under Search Engine Optimization, Social media
Social media can be described as the websites that allow internet users to share media and content. They are designed to broadcast in different social sites. This strategy is mainly applied by social networking sites that are visited by many people with the access to create their own content or pages. This form of networking has been made possible by creating programs that allow people to interact using the internet. It has also made it possible for search engines to communicate to many people at the same time using advertisements and posting messages or forums. This strategy can also be used in sites that enable sharing of pictures and videos such as YouTube. Websites that feature news and informative content as well as research websites also feature in the category of social media. All these sites allow users to leave comments or publish their views, thoughts or videos.
Due to the level of search engine marketing techniques that are integrated into social media, it has become very closely linked to SEO. Just like online PR agencies use keywords to optimize their titles and headings before releasing any press releases, a campaign based on social media also requires to make use of keyword tools to ensure that they are getting their message out to the right audience and will therefore achieve their desired results. This should be done when considering features such as headings and titles, discussion topics, forum questions as well as usernames. The correct forum question will lead many users to that site if it is keyword optimized.
Social media has an effect on SEO in more ways than most people realize and can be used to change the shape of digital media. When using social media for e-commerce, techniques in PPC and SEO will ensure that traffic is generated to an account based on how a keyword has been used. This traffic will generate into sales leads, which might generate into a certain number of sales conversions. A correctly done social medium can be used as technique to drive more visits to a site without using any external or internal links in a page. Using social media as SEO strategies has worked not only because users of the social networking site visit pages but also because they refer other internet users and therefore form a broader market base. These referrals generate to more sales leads and conversions as compared to the number of leads generated from search results or an advertisement.
Although other search engines do not agree that social media should be linked to SEO, there is a general consensus that social networking sites increase awareness of products even when they do not translate into sales. Most people log on to their social networking profiles not to look for products but to catch up with their friends. Therefore, the audience provided in such a case is less likely to increase the number of sales that are directed from social media even when they increase the traffic generation.
Split-Testing – Multivariate Testing of Content
Posted on October 22, 2010 - Filed Under Miscellaneous
Split testing is a testing technique used on web pages to determine the segments or parts of it that are being helpful to the website and which parts are not. This can simply be done by changing a heading or a title and monitor the kind of response each heading elicits. Split testing is therefore done to ensure that only the relevant and helpful parts of a website are maintained on the page. This can be rated based on conversation rates and what draws more attention and traffic to the site. Split testing can also be used to learn the type of internet users that visit a site and what their priorities are and therefore customize a website to suit the needs of readers. This technique can also be used to evaluate parts of a website that are not adding value to a website and therefore remove them or amend them to suit what most internet users are looking for.
The testing tool is designed to give website users an insight into the internet user’s views and therefore try to make their website friendlier hence generate more traffic. Split testing has also been used to ensure that website designers and owners do not make false assumptions about web content but rather get views from internet users who know what they are looking for. In order to get the most accurate and reliable information, the test needs to be done on a constant basis over a short period. A single test only gives one viewpoint while many tests give a more comprehensive and complete analysis of the website and content.
Multivariate testing involves testing parts of a website in a live setting. Multivariate indicates that more that one page is being tested at the same time. Such tests are done to establish which document or web page has better content than others. Multivariate testing enables tests to be done on many different documents at the same time and come up with one that can be classified as the best in terms of content. In multivariate testing settings, the biggest drawback is the amount of time it takes to actually get live feedback from visitors based on the many documents being tested. This testing technique is mainly used to determine which document or web page brings out desired results, which in most cases in converting content into sales leads.
Several techniques have been applied to ensure that multivariate testing gives the intended results. They include using different text formats, layouts and including pictures in web pages or documents. Marketers have realized that there is a trend based on the types of techniques applied and have gradually modified testing techniques to ensure that the best and most accurate results are gathered. This is mainly based on the testing techniques that result in more sales or leads.
Split testing and multivariate testing can be viewed as a way of interacting with internet users and giving them a chance to rate websites and web pages to better suit their needs. This not only gives website owners a chance to increase their rankings but also gives internet users a chance to create the web page that they want.
